Welcome to the Cork 2018 Hockey website.

This website has been created to help the hockey supporter, parent / guardian and family member with planning and preparation for the week’s events beginning on Sunday, July 15th. All key tournament information will be made available through official channels from Hockey Ireland. See links to relevant web pages using the 'Hockey Links' tab.

A few ‘thank you’s’ and ‘well done's’:

To begin with, we wouldn’t be at this event without the background work done by the various hockey associations, local branches and in particular, the many volunteers who do so much in the background to make things happen.

​

Well done to the players for making it this far. We hope that the experience gained will encourage you to develop your many skills even further in order to make it to the next level and beyond. You are the future of the game and with commitment, effort and a huge amount of determination, who knows where your hockey career will bring you.

To the backroom management, staff and coaches …. you have the thankless task of making things happen on the pitch. As coaches, you are all fully aware of the hidden work that must be done to bring these players to where they are today. The early morning starts, the video analysis, the debates and the decisions that must be made are all part of what you do ….. you are also a catalyst to bring these players into the top level of the game …. similar to being a teacher …. you will never know where your impact will end. You are moulding the next generation of players into coaches and they, in turn, will pass on the skills that you display to their players and beyond. Thank you for your efforts.

To the parents, guardians and families of the players …. you are the are the foundation on which these players have been able to develop their skills. Every good player will be all too aware of this fact. Top players will always reflect on the sacrifices that their families have made to enable them to reach their goal. It really is a team effort to see these young people reach this level at such an early age. They are on the start of an amazing journey …. but you, their families are the co-pilot to help them reach their destination.
